Visiting Wedmore

Wedmore in Somerset, England – is a beautiful and unique village. Our village is set in the Somerset Levels with the Mendip Hills as a backdrop.

Wedmore is close to the Cathedral City of Wells, the Bishop’s Palace next door, with the nearby Glastonbury and the famous Glastonbury Music Festival in June.  The Cheddar Gorge with the Mendip Hills (as you can see in the background of the above picture) is fantastic for a scenic drive or walkabout.

Why not stay in one of our many Wedmore accommodations?  From the moment you arrive, you can sense the traditional community spirit.

Wedmore has an excellent range of places to stay and eat and drink serving locally produced food and drink, making it a good place for a relaxing getaway.

If you require a more energetic visit, there are lots of walks allowing you to mingle with farm animals and wildlife. Getting closer to even more wildlife, the Westhay Nature Reserve is close by.  The WNR has proven popular with BBC nature programmes and bird enthusiasts from around the UK and the world!

If shopping is more your thing there is a good selection:  a craft shop, fashion shops and beauty shops are just a short walk away from the car park and a short drive gets you to Clarks Village which has over 90 popular shops.

There is a very friendly golf club with a challenging 18 golf course on the edge of the village which welcomes you with those stunning views of the Mendips and the valley below too.

The area is a photographer’s delight whatever the season.

Wedmore makes a great base for exploring the surrounding history, landscape, habitat of birds and wildlife of both the Mendips and the Somerset Levels.  You can do this by bicycle, car and or on foot!

Whether you visit for the day, weekend or week, Wedmore has plenty to offer!
